About 2.5 million perfectly healthy, completely adoptable animals are put down each year. That this continues to be a "thing" is ridiculous.

Keep in mind I wrote "completely adoptable". These aren't the animals that behavior or medical problems. These animals were born for no other reason than to die. I don't mean to be a downer here. I'm far from an animal rights activist. I just can't believe that in this day and age there are still people who intentionally breed animals. I also don't think it's right that you let them accidentally breed either.

I know it costs money to spay or neuter your pets. It's very awesome of you to give a home to an animal even though you can't pay to have those procedures done, but it's still irresponsible. I hope you will continue to lookout for programs or opportunities to get your pet fixed.  My Facebook feed has regular announcements from people saying "hey my dog/cat just had puppies/kittens". It's happens, it's understood. It should also be understood that you didn't do the world a favor by having a litter. Even if you're successful in giving away the offspring, that could mean a another pet didn't get adopted and will have to put down.

We have responsibilities to look after the animals on this planet. Let's do better.
