I always give credit where credit is due. I feel like the President hit a home run with his support of our space agency.

I've pretty much distanced myself from politics. I really have one core political belief: that everyone deserves a fair chance regardless of color, gender, sexual orientation or whatever else you can think of.  Beyond that, I kind of don't care about politics too much anymore.

I do believe NASA should be as non-political as possible.  The future of our species just may be on another planet, and even if it isn't, the things that are developed for space exploration benefit us greatly here on earth.  Everything from dustbusters to artificial limbs were directly products of or improved by their inclusion in the space program.

Strangely enough, it was another controversial politician that was among its chief supporters. Texas Senator Ted Cruz was one of the chief sponsors of the bill. The bill adds a possible mission to Mars and support for the International Space Station through 2024 among its goals. Now, some people want to pick apart what is or what isn't included in this, but this being continued or implemented instead of being cut, is a big deal.

So that's it, no snide comments, no backhanded compliments. Just a "good job" to all involved. Space exploration and the technologies that emerge from it are essential to the future of the human race.
