I used to be one of those Purell people-afraid to touch anyone or anything without a dose of hand cleaner close by. I also come from an upbringing where you just didn't touch guys in any way for any reason. I got over that too thanks to a biker named Santa Claus.

Santa would come into the bar and he'd hug everyone with a familiar face. You really didn't have a choice. It's not like he was threatening you with not hugging him, it would have just been to awkward not to.  One day something snapped in my head and I thought "I want to be more like that guy" and from that point forward I started hugging all my friends (sorry, some of you have heard this story before). It was fortunate I did, because I lost a very close friend not long after this, and I am at least at peace knowing she knew how I felt about her.

Now days everyone knows this as just a thing I do, but it all came from Santa Claus. I have no idea what kind of shenanigans he was up to in his personal life. All I know is that he changed my life for the better. I saw him just a couple of weeks ago and he once again gave me a big ole hug and said "I love ya brutha".  So rest in peace Santa Claus, your memory will live on with every person I hug and every hug my friends pass along to others.
