Sunday's not a typical day for a rock show, but thousands still braved the rain and swarmed Lubbock's Lonestar Amphitheater to see Rob Zombie, Avatar and Murder FM tear it up.

Despite the bad weather and work/school night, the line to get into the show stretched around the venue. Lubbock rockers didn't mind the unusual experience; it was Rob f'n Zombie.

Show opener Avatar only recently arrived back in the US, but continue to make a name for themselves as a metal act not to miss. Singer Johannes Eckerstrom marched across the stage carrying a big stick, joining in with his band mates for some simultaneous headbanging.

Zombie's stage show exemplified his love of horror movies, featuring the visages of classic movie monsters. The singer owned the stage, thrashing around and getting the crowd screaming.

A highlight came when the singer left the stage and did a lap around the amphitheater -- right through the crowd.

Once Zombie wrapped up his wild set, Murder FM from Dallas rocked the show's after party inside the venue. It was a smaller stage, and it barely contained the group's energy.
