The first time I heard Shinedown do "Simple Man" in concert I was blown away. Then I heard their cover of "One" (by U2) and I thought "these guys can do anything". I don't really feel that way anymore. Maybe that's why this is called "Smith + Myers" instead of Shinedown".

I'm sure there's some stuff on this e.p. that will be good, but their first release is a real disappointment.  I have to admit I even voted for them to cover the song.  For some reason the track just does not connect. It's like they've sucked the absolute life out of it.  It's proof to me that you may be able to sing anything, but there some things you shouldn't.  You know what though?  It's not on me.  What do you think of it?

Other songs the band covered on the e.p. are Otis Redding's "Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay", The Black Crowes "She Talks To Angels", Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters", Kenny Wayne Sheppard's "Blue on Black and Soul Asylum's "Runaway Train".
