Sorry, Lubbock Is All Out of Free Stuff

I think it was a very proud moment for our Mayor, City Manager and everyone at the city when Lubbock was voted best managed city in America. The survey was saying that people in Lubbock got the most bang for their tax buck in the Hub.

I think with this latest news it has been proven that we've elected leaders and hired personnel that make wise decisions.

Now, it's time to step up and get the dreamers involved.  What do you want Lubbock to be?  Are you satisfied with the way it is?

There are calls for tornado sirens. Some of you would like to see more skate parks. I think we should have some splash pads for little kids to play in. We might need some more parks in general because on the big holidays they really fill up.

Well, as I said, Lubbock is already squeezing the pennies until Lincoln cries uncle and none of this stuff is free. It's hilarious to me that the same people screaming for tornado sirens are the ones screaming that taxes are too high.

Try as I might, I've yet to poop out a tornado siren. You have to use real money to get those.

I wasn't that long ago that there were a series of conferences about the future of Lubbock development and all that stuff was tied together to the point where it was like looking at a map of Tomorrowland.

How about we just get back to picking up a nice high profile upgrade or two each year? They don't have to be overly expensive, they just need to show what you can accomplish when you have a plan and make smart decisions with your money.
