We won't have the Aggies to kick around anymore. Texas A&M has announced via their website that they are opting out of the Big 12! Read more after the break.

According the the press release the school is done with the Big 12 on June 30th 2012.  The Aggies made no announcement about where they are going, only that they were going to apply to another conference. A & M officials only said that it was in the best interest of the school and gave few other details.

Here's a quote from the article:

"As I have indicated throughout this process, we are seeking to generate greater visibility nationwide for Texas A&M and our championship-caliber student-athletes, as well as secure the necessary and stable financial resources to support our athletic and academic programs," (President R. Bowen) Loftin said. "

My opinion?  You can blame the "Longhorn Network" deal for this and the lack of balls by the other schools to stand up to them. Let's get real here, there is no more Big 12. It's down to nine and others aren't lining up to get in.  Stuff is gonna get weird for a little while and Tech needs to quit playing "baby brother" to U.T. and find a good fit for the Red Raiders pronto before there's no good spaces left.
