Texas Tech's men's basketball program is definitely different than what many might assume. The young men on the team showed that they can hang with any team, even on the road, on Wednesday night though they lost the bout against #13 Iowa State by a 76-69 final.

After a sloppy first half that tallied a 40-30 lead for the Cyclones at the break, Tubby Smith was able to instill something in his guys to go out and chomp at the bit.

Chomp they did, as the Red Raiders fought to get the game within two points in front of a ruckus Ames crowd.

Justin Gray, a sophomore sixth man, provided the most offense on the night, logging 14 points. Toddrick Gotcher added 12, while Norense Odiase recorded 11.

This team is simply tougher, more physical, and edgier than past teams, even under Smith's rule, so it'll be interesting to see how they respond as they host the best team in the land, Kansas, Saturday night.
