2015 was an amazing year for me, and as birthday greetings start to trickle in, I wanted to say thanks to everyone.

I guess I owe a lot of this to my little bar, but no matter what the reason, I've met more listeners and made more friends than I have in the last ten years.

I am turning 54 years old. I used to shy away from my age thinking that I'd be viewed as "too old to rock and roll" or whatever, but my shows and online content continue to reach new heights.

I don't know what it is and I can't explain it myself, but If you would have asked my 30-year-old self where I'd be, I would have said "washed up at 40." Well, that didn't happen.

Instead, digital took off and many of you know I was always way ahead of the curve with email lists and the first commercial radio website in Lubbock. It's not just the digital, either. After helping out on weekends, I took over a full-time show on KEYJ in Abilene and I've been no. 1 there for about the last year and a half.

Anyways, even though this is about me, it really isn't about me. It's thanks to all of the great people who have been here this year and to the new friends who have completely energized me and made this one of the best years ever.

Some of you I now hang with regularly, and some I barely know your names. But I wanted you to know I appreciate you. I think I have a couple more years of kicking ass in me thanks to all of you.

And lastly, thanks to all of you who were with me, and FMX, in the beginning, circa 1981. NEVER stop rockin'.

(Editor's Note: And because we love Wes and y'all so much, here's a video of him getting whip cream in his face at his birthday party at the Freaky Tiki Tavern. Enjoy!)
