The first Furry 500 at the Lubbock Civic Center was such a successful event that we had to do it again. And now, we are.

Saturday, September 22nd, we're back at the Lubbock Civic Center for The Furry 500 II. Our goal is to microchip and/or vaccinate 500 dogs and cats. This event was extremely popular on one of the hottest days of the year, so we're hoping milder September weather might allow us to help 500 more pet owners.

The vaccinations cover bordetellla, parvo and distemper. You must have your pet on a leash. We will get started at 10 a.m. and go until we run out or 2 p.m. -- whichever comes first.

We have more partners this time who LOVE animals. We'd like to thank Attorney Dean Boyd for their more than generous help with this event, and the wonderful folks at Three Dog Bakery Lubbock. (You HAVE to take your dog there -- you'll love it!). And lastly, we couldn't have done this second round of vaccinations and microchipping without YOU. We raised more than $1,000 to do this event for free during a t-shirt drive.

We CAN get a handle on the pet population in Lubbock, and the first step is making sure that we have healthy pets that can be returned to their owners.
