Born on this day in 1929 Screamin' Jay Hawkins came into this world and you can say that he changed they way we look at live "shock rock" forever. When you look at the music genre of the fifty's it has to be one of the most important decades in all of music. The birth of Rock and Roll, Elvis and so forth. But also in the fifties you have to remember  how very conservative society was back then. Right in the middle of all this enter Screamin' Jay Hawkins with his onstage showmanship that has never been seen before. Coffins, skull and bones and his rock and roll attire all so ground breaking paving the way for such bands, Black Sabbath, Marilyn Manson, and Alice Cooper.
