Officer Eric Casebolt has resigned, and the McKinney Police Department has labeled his actions "indefensible" and "out of control."

Casebolt has been seen the past few days in a video showing him running around like a madman and flinging a 15-year-old girl to the ground. Casebolt will get to keep the pension and benefits that he built up over his ten year career.

Hopefully, this will bring an end to the debate. The McKinney Police Department Chief of Police said that "11 out of 12 officers performed according to our training".  All of this is a good reason to bring this to a close.

Some are still wondering whether the entire incident is racial, but that's a whole other story. Maybe the private individuals involved had race-based motivations (it's been said it was reported that there were "too many black kids" on the scene), but I see no reason to believe that Casebolt acted in a racially-motivated manner.

From what I can see, he got worked up over smart mouth kids and that's it.  He still shouldn't have been so aggressive, but I still get the feeling he would have taken down anyone giving him lip that day.

So that's it. Justice has been served, and more importantly we are down one cop who couldn't handle his temper. We should now support the other eleven who showed up and handled the situation professionally.

As for Casebolt, I hope he finds employment that suits him quickly. Anybody can have a bad day and get carried away, and sometimes you pay dearly for that.

As for those who supported Casebolt's actions: seriously, what were you thinking? There is a serious lack of respect for police these days and it's not going to improve until the unprofessional ones are ferreted out.

Coming from a family of police, unconditional support is appreciated, but in this case there was too much proof that this man was not right for the job.
