Leaving the Lone Star Amphitheater's paid parking after a show has been a little problematic.

Unlike other large parking lots with multiple ways out, the exit of the Lone Star Amphitheater is one car-sized gate. It's a bottleneck situation for sure and there's really nothing that could be done about it. If you're not in a hurry, it can actually be nice to sit in your car with the a/c going while the traffic trickles out.

There is also a problem entering the paid parking problem though, and that problem is twofold. Part of the problem is yahoos who drive up to the gate then wince at the parking fee and try to turn around, and second the drivers dropping off passengers (whether friends, family, or Uber it does not matter).

The problem with people turning around is they have to a. have enough space to do so, and b. cut through the line of people trying to go into the paid parking. It's really a ridiculous problem to have and the answer should be quite simple, don't turn up that street unless you want to go into paid parking.

Well, everything just got worse about two weeks ago. That street, which is about two and a half to three lanes wide, is now under construction. This means that better than a lane is taken up with traffic cones and heavy equipment. This also means that there is almost no space for a turnaround (and at the end of the turnaround is a giant hole!). All it's going to take is for one driver to get confused about the situation and entry into the parking is going to be fudged, and I mean SUPER-FUDGED, as in traffic getting so snarled that it will back up on 19th Street.

So let's be very clear here. If you're going to the show, please plan on using the paid parking or have your ride find a SAFE place on 19th Street to drop you off. We can work this out if we all get the word out. If you have friends or family coming into the show, please let them know that the street near the Amphitheater's front gate is for PAID PARKING ONLY.

Here's what it looks like approaching that road, you can see where even turning in will be a little tricky:

And here's what it looks like looking back, you can see significant space is being eaten up by construction:
