From the depths of metal’s primordial ooze comes a new generation of bands to carry the genre forward into 2019 and beyond. Many acts have stood out in the first six months of this year, so take a peek at these 10 bands to find your newest obsession.

Few metal bands look to have a brighter future than Ukraine’s Jinjer. Led by Tatiana Shmailyuk and her highly impressive guttural/clean vocal trade-off, Jinjer have exploded over the past year, racking up over 22 million views on a live version of “Pisces.” Plenty of other Jinjer clips have millions of views online and the band just finished recording a fresh studio album, set for a potential 2019 release.

In the world of hardcore-infused metal, Knocked Loose have risen to join bands like Code Orange at the helm of the genre. Knocked Loose already have tons of buzz for their upcoming second full-length, A Different Shade of Blue, and they’ve been destroying North America supporting A Day To Remember on their ‘Raisin’ Hell in the Heartland’ tour.

20 years after nu-metal hit its peak with Korn, System of a Down and Slipknot, Tallah are looking to restore the genre to its glory days. When multifaceted vocalist Justin Bonitz loses his mind in front of Max Portnoy’s drum kit, Tallah go hard as any up-and-coming new band. Having only released one EP, the band was already impressive enough to catch the attention of Earache Records, who scooped up the young act.
