AC/DC's Phil Rudd may be down, but he's not out. The drummer is currently under home detention after admitting to charges of threatening to kill an employee and having drugs in his home. But in a new interview with New Zealand's 3D, he reveals that he's keen to get back to playing again.

Rudd reveals that he's surprised at his current sentencing, stating, "I was expecting a discharge without conviction and get on a plane and go straight back to work." But the drummer remains at home with time to think and prepare himself for once the sentence is complete.

"I've got a lot to think about now. I've grown up, but not grown old," says Rudd. "I hope there's a difference. I still want to play the drums. I've got a lot of game left and I reckon I'm just starting to f--king get cleared up. So I just want a chance to get back in with the boys and just carry on from there."

Rudd reveals that since his arrest, he's been getting help from a prominent psychiatrist and he feels his darkest days are behind him. He adds that his primary goal is to "get my job back, get back on the road and make a lot of money." Whether that is with AC/DC remains to be seen. "You don't want to act like something is happening and then look like a complete d--khead when it doesn't," says Rudd, who adds that he won't give up in his attempt to return to the group.

As for AC/DC's continuation with onetime drummer Chris Slade returning in Rudd's absence, the drummer says he holds no ill will but is not willing to concede the spot for the future. "Slade! He's a good drummer, mate. Chris Slade's a good drummer but I've got no idea what he's doing up there," says Rudd. "Trust me, I know what I'm talking about. I got nothing against Chris. It's just he hasn't got a permanent job. I hope! That's all."

Speaking about his future, Rudd states, "I'm going to be back. I've never been fitter; I've never felt better; I've never been psychologically or physically in better shape my whole life, and I love playing. I've realised who I am and what I can do and I just want a chance to go out there and show everyone who the man is .. I'm the man."
