Anthrax Prep ‘Kings Among Scotland’ Live Concert DVD for Spring 2018 Release
Anthrax's travels have taken them all over the world the last few years, but one of their stops is getting some extra time in the spotlight. The band has announced plans to release Kings Among Scotland, a new concert DVD taken from the band's sold-out show at Glasgow's Barrowland Ballroom from back in February of this year.
Anthrax are a finely tuned unit after heavy touring over the last few years and the Kings Among Scotland disc finds the band in fine road-tested form. You can look for the set arriving in stores and online April 27 through Megaforce.
"Playing for our friends at the Barrowlands has always been very special," said Anthrax's Frank Bello. "We all know we're going to get together and have an insanely great time, and we think that incredible interaction and energy really comes through on this video."
Their Glasgow performance clocked in at two hours and this DVD also comes with interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, b-roll shots on the band's bus, plus footage from backstage, their hotels and other locations. And for the gearheads in the audience, the Kings Among Scotland set includes a "gear rundown" for each of the band members. The set also comes with some eye catching artwork, with the packaging created by STeve Thompson.
The DVDs are broken down into two parts -- the first consisting of Anthrax playing "the favorites" that had been voted for by fans pre-show. You'll find such classics as "Madhouse," "Be All, End All," "Breathing Lightning" and "A.I.R." on this disc. Ramping up the stage production in part two, Anthrax honed in on their Among the Living disc, performing "Caught in a Mosh," "I Am the Law," "Indians" and more.
"It was pretty a intense show," added guitarist Scott Ian. "Especially when the crowd was so insane, the floor actually started moving up and down." "It was a challenge for all of us to play 'Among the Living' live," adds Charlie Benante. "We've played a number of that album's songs in our shows over the years, but not all of them, and playing a song in a recording studio is not the same as playing it live on stage. So we put in a lot of time to get all of the tracks down perfectly. And I'll tell you, after we finished that set, as arduous as it was, we all felt a sense of exhilaration, like we could go out and do it again."
In anticipation of the release, Anthrax will kick off 2018 with another leg of their "Killthrax" tour with Killswitch Engage. The run starts Jan. 25 in Montreal and continues through early March.
