‘Deadpool 2’ Adds Japanese Actress Shioli Kutsuna for a ‘Key Role’
Deadpool 2 is going to introduce at least three new characters into the world of the X-Men offshoot, but we only know for sure who two of them are. Domino and Cable have both been cast (Zazie Beetz and Josh Brolin, respectively), but there are plenty more mutants the movie could add. We know that the mysterious villain has been cast, and we might know who he’ll be playing, and today brought the news that Japanese actress Shioli Kutsuna has been added for a “key role,” though we don’t know for sure who that could be either.
‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ TV Spot: No Mercy, No Peace
War for the Planet of the Apes marks the conclusion of Caesar’s story, and the beginning of a new world. Whether that means a world of apes or humans remains to be seen (I mean, we know, but let’s just pretend). A new TV spot invites us to “witness the end” of the series, and of one species’ tenure on a dying planet.
‘Suicide Squad 2’ Staring Down the Barrel of a 2018 Production Start
Because the one thing this world has been clamoring for is a Suicide Squad sequel, we’ve got a few updates on Deadshot and the gang’s next adventure. For one thing, the script is being written right now, and it looks like, although it doesn’t officially have a director, the movie is on track for a production start sometime next year.
New Netflix Instant Releases: June 2017
It’s that time again: time to round up everything coming and going from all the streaming services at the start of the new month. Netflix has a pretty fantastic slate for this June, which includes their Cannes contender Okja, directed by Bong Joon-ho and starring Tilda Swinton and Jake Gyllenhaal. There’s also a few popular 2016 releases like Xavier Dolan’s It’s Only the End of the World, and Catfight, that movie about Sandra Oh and Anne Heche beating the living daylights out of each other. And if you want to hear a bunch of animated plants sing Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence,” give Trolls a shot.
‘Alien: Covenant’ Clip: The Spineburster Is Your New Worst Nightmare
Alien: Covenant is arriving soon, whether we’re ready for it or not, and a short new clip assures us that this movie is definitely more horror than sci-fi. Even these thirty seconds are enough to make one feel antsy, and the final sound effect is enough to send a million chills down the spine. The Xenomorphs are back, baby!
Infect Yourself With an Awesome First Look at ‘The Thing’ Board Game
Do you love The Thing? Do you wish you, too, could trap yourself in a snowed-in bunker with a bunch of other people and one bloodthirsty, shapeshifting alien? Good news! Mondo, the company behind pretty much every amazing non-official movie poster you’ve ever seen, has come out with a board game based on the John Carpenter classic, and we’ve got your first look at it right here.
New ‘Baywatch’ Trailer Highlights Priyanka Chopra and Her Fabulous Hair
Dwayne Johnson’s Baywatch movie is almost upon us, and as an extra incentive, the film debuted a new trailer today that focuses on Priyanka Chopra’s extremely fashionable villain.
Free Comic Book Day to Feature Exclusive Comic Previewing Luc Besson’s ‘Valerian’
Free Comic Book Day is a fun time of the year for anyone even remotely interested in comics. Companies and stores pick out some select stories that customers can get for free, and some artists and writers even make comics especially for Free Comic Book Day. Luc Besson and the folks behind Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets have put together a sneak peek of their new movie in the form of a preview comic that introduces us to the characters of Valerian and Laureline and details a few of their adventures.
The Guardians and the Avengers Aren’t Going to Become Friends Overnight in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’
Thanos finally getting some real screen time in Avengers: Infinity War as the ultimate big bad is pretty exciting, but possibly even more exciting is the fact that we’ll also get to see our two favorite Marvel superhero teams come face-to-face for the first time. Until now, there hasn’t been any connective tissue to bridge the gap between the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy, but a foe like Thanos needs more than one group of heroes to take him down. But while these heroes are incredibly powerful, don’t expect them to buddy up with each other right off the bat.
All of Your Favs Are Back in the International ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5’ Trailer
A certain branch of criticism against the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie back when it came out in 2011 focused on the fact that this was the first one with barely a trace of Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann, two characters we’d all grown to love through a trilogy of movies, and, arguably, who are the actual heart and soul of the series. Without them, On Stranger Tides felt adrift, unable to find an emotional focus despite introducing a new generation of generically attractive leads. The good news for those of us who have stuck with the series this far is, thanks to the new international trailer, we know Elizabeth is coming back too. Along with a few more of Captain Jack’s “friends.”
The ‘Alien: Covenant’ Crew Send Their Regards in Creepy Found-Footage Videos
It wouldn’t be a Ridley Scott movie without a well-timed, ominous viral campaign. Much like the series of short videos starring the crew of The Martian on their space station, Alien: Covenant has come out with two transmissions from the people on that particular doomed ship, intercut with some creepy found footage of their expedition onto a new planet. We all know that no matter how good the intentions of the Covenant crew are, it’s all going to go terribly, terribly wrong, thanks to our Xenomorph friend.
‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ TV Spots: Quill Introduces the Team and Baby Groot is Belligerent
If there’s one thing Peter Quill is really good at (besides making people want to kill him), it’s listing. Namely, listing all of his friends, which he has done in maybe three Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailers so far. We get it, Pete, you’ve got little epithets for all your buddies. The newest TV spot looks just as fun and bizarre as the previous ones, with the misfit family of Guardians going up against more legions of spaceships, a tall gold woman, and a giant tentacle beast. So, the usual.
