Back in the day MTV was the source for rock videos and VH1 was the channel you'd go to for top 40 hits. Oh my how things have changed. Now MTV seems to be the source for strange train wreck reality shows and VH1 is the channel for more strange train wreck reality shows.

One show on VH1 that I have found myself enjoying though is "Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew." I think what I find most appealing about the show is knowing the history of Bob Forrest and seeing him work with what amounts to (in most cases) "B list celebrities" and seeing him relate, and them really connect with what he has to say.

Bob is a guy who has been to the door of hell, knocked on it, turned the door knob and froze before he could walk through.

In a recent interview Bob tells how he had planned to go out with a bang, how he was planning to commit suicide in front of a crowd in 1993 at the Poppink Festival in the Netherlands.

The things this guy has been through and come back from is something that the people he reaches out to and helps can really relate to, he is not the clean cut educated therapist but the addict who learned from life lessons and rose to share with others what life taught him.

Check out the full article and then watch a video of Bob on stage with his band Thelonious Monster minutes after he climbed down from the speaker tower he had planned to jump from to end his life.
