Tubby Smith to Leave Texas Tech Men’s Basketball Program [Video]
According to Gary Parrish of CBS Sports, Tubby Smith and the University of Memphis have agreed in principle for Smith to be the next head coach of the Tigers.
In three years at Texas Tech, Tubby Smith was 46–50, taking the Red Raiders to the NCAA Tournament in his third year. He earned the Big 12 Coach of the Year and Sporting News Coach of the Year in 2016.
The impression Smith made on this Red Raider Basketball program is undeniable, but leaving abruptly with years left on a contract will sour what could have been a lasting legacy for him here at Texas Tech.
