As most people know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

If you're a football fan you have certainly noticed players and coaches all sporting pink from uniforms to shoes and logos to help promote awareness and support the cause.

And if you watched the game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the San Diego Chargers you no doubt noticed the DeAngelo Williams' pink dreadlocks.

The Steelers running back lost several family members and his mother to breast cancer.

Wanting to draw awareness to the seriousness of regular checkups the Steelers running back approached the NFL about wearing pink year round as a tribute to his mother and family members.

When he was told no due to the rules regarding uniforms, Williams decided he would find a way around the rule to honor his mom, hence the pink braids.

As of now, the NFL has not added a clause preventing players from adding colors to their hair, but, if they do you can bet Williams will find another way to sneak in the pink to honor the memory of his mom.
