When I was a young teen in the 1990s, I thought Dickies, especially the pants, were so cool. Sadly, no matter how low my weight got, I never had the body type to wear them.

Dickies have had moments of trendiness throughout the years- and have always been a good choice for durable work clothes (assuming you can fit into them).

Dickies- A Long Texas History

The American division of Dickies has quite a long history with Fort Worth, Texas- it's been there for over a hundred years. However, that legacy is now drawing to a close.

According to WFAA, there will be 125 layoffs of Texas workers as Dickies closes up shop to move to California. Dickies is moving to its parent brand's campus in Costa Mesa, California.

VF Corporation also houses brands like Vans, Timberland, and North Face.

So it appears that this is more of a consolidation than a political or economic move for the brand. It's simply going under its larger corporate umbrella.

Not All Texas Dickies Employees Will Lose Jobs

Despite the move and the layoffs, not all Texas Dickies workers will lose their jobs. Employees who work in the distribution facility, the warehouse, and the retail stores may be able to keep their employment in Fort Worth/ Dallas.

According to The Leapfrog Group, which has collected patient safety data for over 20 years, these were the worst-scoring Texas hospitals for patient safety for Fall 2024.

The Leapfrog Group uses many criteria to produce these scores- everything from how well doctors communicate to how often they leave dangerous items inside patients after surgeries.
