Evanescence’s Amy Lee Awarded $1 Million in Lawsuit, Will Pay Toward Legal Fees
Evanescence singer Amy Lee was awarded $1 million in a lawsuit from her former management company 110 Management Inc, according to TMZ. However, Lee is going to have to pay most of the $1,036,773.68 to legal expenses: $885k in attorney fees, $72k to an expert witness and other administrative costs.
110 Management originally sued Lee last year over unpaid commissions and fees. The management company originally sought out $1.5 million from Lee, later lowering their demand to $335,000. Eventually, an arbitrator ruled that 110 were only owed $4,863.66. But the legal matters weren't over, as Lee fired back this year, asking the court to make 110 pay her attorney fees from the long legal battle. The judge in the case granted Lee's request, with the monies paid for Lee's legal fees actually eclipsing the amount she had to pay out in the case.
In other Evanescence news, Lee recently expressed how glad she was in an interview to be releasing a new version of her original "Bring Me to Life" without the single's original rapping, for the group's upcoming album Synthesis. "God bless the rap, it's part of what got us on the radio, I guess," Lee says. "At least according to all the rules of radio that I don't agree with or understand. The rap wasn't part of our original idea or sound, it was a compromise in many ways. So to be able to go back to the original vision for the song was great."
Synthesis comes out Nov. 10, and contains many reimagined versions from the band's discography, including the aforementioned redux of "Bring Me to Life" as well as other favorites like "Imperfection." The band is currently partaking in an orchestral, North American tour and will be playing throughout the rest of the year.
