Former Red Raider Receiver Is Heading to H-Town
After the Red Raiders finished the 2020 season, there was an evident and palpable rift between the offensive players and play-caller/offensive coordinator David Yost. This culminated with sophomore receiver Erik Ezukanma calling out the coaches during the team's final game against Kansas and in the post-game press conference.
There was also reported, but not confirmed, division inside the locker room after the season ended. That wasn't helped by a week of radio silence after the season ended before it was announced that Matt Wells would be retained and David Yost was fired.
Before that announcement, there was some thought that several offensive players had planned to transfer if there wasn't a change in the offensive philosophy.
In fact, before Yost's firing and the announcement that Sonny Cumbie had been hired as the team's next offensive coordinator, KeSean Carter revealed on Twitter that he planned to transfer from the Red Raiders program. There was some hope that Cumbie could convince the dynamic athlete to return to the team, but it's now confirmed that the Texas Tech return dream ship has sailed.
Carter is headed back home to Houston.
Carter played at the Woodlands high school in the Houston area and will be immediately featured in the Cougars offense. Immediately, as in week one next season when the Red Raiders will play those same Houston Cougars at the Houston Texans stadium to open the 2021 season on September 4th, 2021.
Buckle your seat belts, it could get wild.
