Hatebreed’s Jamey Jasta on CM Punk’s UFC Debut + ‘The Jasta Show’
Hatebreed vocalist Jamey Jasta’s passions extend far outside the world of music. The hardcore workhorse is always dabbling in something new, whether it be podcasting or getting involved in mixed martial arts. We spoke about both topics with Jasta in this exclusive clip.
For the past year-and-a-half, the MMA world has been buzzing about the eventual UFC debut of former WWE superstar CM Punk. Punk is expected to make his octagon debut in late summer against Mickey Gall. Punk has always supported heavy music, so we wanted to know if Jasta is returning that support.
“Someone who’s as determined and focused as that guy is, he could have success,” Jasta says about Punk. “And remember, everybody always has a puncher’s chance. Anything can happen. One mistake; someone who’s smart and has had some time sparring, I think could capitalize on a mistake. Not taking anything away from Mikey Gall, he’s super tough, he’s an exciting prospect and he had a nice finish in his first match in the UFC. It’s gonna be fun.”
Jasta also spoke about his very successful podcast, The Jasta Show. Speaking of the guests he’s found himself becoming buddies with, Jasta named Chris Jericho and Duff McKagan as two of his all-time favorites, calling them “incredible” and “an exceptional human being,” respectively.
