Here Are the Biggest Hard Rock + Metal Tours of 2018 So Far
Pollstar, a trade publication for the concert industry, has published their annual mid-year report of the top 100 worldwide tours based on gross tickets. While superstar pop acts such as Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift populate the top of the chart, there are numerous hard rock and metal acts that made the final cut.
The Foo Fighters came in at No. 12 with $53.6 million, while Metallica followed close behind at No. 19 with $40.6 million. Additionally, Iron Maiden came in at No. 52, garnering $17.3 million. Pollstar also compiled the top 100 North American tours, which saw Judas Priest making an appearance at No. 89.
We recently reported on Iron Maiden's box office numbers so far in 2018. It is worth noting that some of the tours tallied on Pollstar's reports have only just begun, such as Iron Maiden's current trek, so the totals don't reflect every band's full potential of a headlining run in 2018. Nonetheless, check out the current tallies of notable hard rock and metal groups below.
