Texas Pastor And Substitute Teacher Charged With Possessing Child Porn, Had Spy Cameras Set Up
Another Texas Pastor is being accused of wrong doing.
Police this past Friday reportedly arrested Arturo Alarcon who was employed as an associate pastor by 121 Community Church in Grapevine, Texas. According to a report from Chron.com, Alarcon has been arrested and charged with being in possession of child pornography.
The 38-year-old suspect was also a substitute teacher for Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, and was also reportedly a volunteer for an after-school program at the Grapevine Community Outreach Center according to CBS News.
According to CBS, the investigation into Alarcon began after a missionary couple found hidden cameras in a mobile home that was owned by the church. The spy cameras were made to look like every day household items, like a clock and bug zapper. During the investigation, police searched Alarcon's phone.
In the process of investigating the case, police say they found an image of child pornography downloaded onto Alarcon's cell phone. The image, they say, did not come from the hidden cameras and was not related to them.
Alarcon, though, was charged in both cases and arrested for possession of child pornography and invasive visual recording.
According to CBS, police are still investigating and analyzing "several" devices that were in Alarcon's possession.
CBS also reported that Alarcon in the past was honored for his service to the community. The Grapevine Police in 2023 gave Alarcon a Latino Service Award. Since his arrest, Grapevine-Colleyville ISD has fired Alarcon and the church has removed his bio from the website.
