The Tums 500 was taken by new points leader Jimmie Johnson after a 500-lap marathon around the "paperclip".

The Virginia speedway was full of NASCAR fans eager to see some high-octane racing action, and the race almost came down to the wire that the fans were looking for.

Johnson took the lead with less than 20 laps to go and never looked back, as he held off an aggressive Kyle Busch to take home the checkered flag.

Jeff Gordon came out in seventh after getting behind on the two last restarts.

Brad Kesolowski lost the points lead even though a late gamble almost paid off.

Check out what happens next week when the NASCAR drivers head to Texas Motor Speedway!
