Marilyn Manson Suing Evan Rachel Wood for Fraud, Conspiracy + Defamation
A little over a year after actress Evan Rachel Wood named Marilyn Manson as her abuser, the musician is now suing her, TMZ,reports. According to the celebrity gossip site, Manson is suing both Wood and her partner, Illma Gore, claiming that they committed fraud and developed a conspiracy in order to defame him.
Documents obtained by TMZ show a sequence of alleged activities between 2019 and 2021 — compiled by Manson's attorneys — that Manson's team say allude to a conspiracy concocted by Wood and Gore in an attempt to destroy his career.
One instance was The Phoenix Act, which LinkedIn states is a "survivor-led nonprofit organization created by Evan Rachel Wood that works to end the cycle of domestic violence through organizing and passing legislation across the country." Manson's lawsuit claims that the organization was a cover-up as a means to make a profit.
The lawsuit also claims that Gore sent out a mass email to several people whom Manson had been romantically involved with in the past, asking them to note anything they may have had in common with Wood. The lawsuit also alleges that the pair convinced these women that Manson had abused them all and that their memories had been clouded by trauma as a result of the occurrences.
Furthermore, according to the lawsuit Gore and Wood allegedly created checklists and scripts for the women in order to enhance the supposed accuracy of their accusations. Manson attests that Gore made fake email addresses in order to impersonate him, and engaged in email exchanges that included pornographic material and threatening language to create a digital paper trail, and he denies actually being a part of any of the conversations. The lawsuit also claims that the duo hacked into his personal computer files, social media accounts and used his Social Security Number without permission.
There was also an alleged fake letter from an FBI agent, which states, "Please be advised that Ms. Evan Rachel Wood is a key witness in connection to a criminal investigation in Los Angeles, California involving an international and well known public figure. The safety of Ms. Wood, her family, other victims, and of their families are of the utmost concern during this time."
Manson argued that the FBI agent later confirmed she never wrote the letter, therefore Wood and Gore forged the agent's signature in order to show authenticity.
Additionally, he contends that Gore and Wood intentionally got the attention of the paparazzi last February, which is right around when Wood first named him as her abuser. In February of 2021 police went to Manson's home to conduct a wellness check. According to TMZ, Manson claims that Gore posed as a concerned friend to call in an "emergency" and suggest that the paparazzi being there to capture it wasn't a coincidence.
Finally, Manson asserted that Gore lied about him featuring an underage girl in a short film from the 1990s and claiming that it included child pornography. Manson claims that the woman was 22 at the time it was filmed, which he says Gore was aware of.
Manson is seeking damages from the lawsuit, and wants Wood and Gore's alleged operation to be halted. See images of the documents obtained by TMZ below.
