Photo of the Day: James Hetfield as Officer Bob Hayward in ‘Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil + Vile’
Ever since the news broke that Metallica's James Hetfield was taking on his first acting role, there has been plenty of interest from fans about his involvement in the serial killer film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile. Fans can get even more excited as director Joe Berlinger has now shared his first photo of Hetfield from the set.
As a refresher, Hetfield has been cast in the role of Officer Bob Hayward, the patrolman who stopped serial killer Ted Bundy on a Utah highway and eventually arrested him. Bundy is being portrayed in the film by Zac Efron. Production on the film is currently underway and in the photo below, you get to see Berlinger on set with Hetfield in uniform and Efron in a police interrogation room.
"Having one of my musical heroes in our film is pretty damn awesome," stated Berlinger, while posting the Brian Douglas Stills photo from the set.
Berlinger has a history with Hetfield as the two worked together on Metallica's Some Kind of Monster documentary. Berlinger was a co-director on that film with Bruce Sinofsky. Along with Some Kind of Monster, Hetfield has appeared in TV series like Billions, The Simpsons and American Dad, while also narrating documentaries. But this marks the first time that the singer has taken on a dramatic role portraying someone other than himself.
While Hetfield has taken advantage of a break in the schedule to film the role, he's back in his usual spotlight center stage for Metallica. The band will continue their European trek tomorrow night in Bologna, Italy. See all their scheduled dates here.
