Pierce the Veil Frontman Becomes Co-Chairman of Living the Dream Foundation
Pierce the Veil may be working on a new album, but when Vic Fuentes recently teased a "life-changing announcement," he wasn't necessarily talking about music. The vocalist has now revealed that he's been appointed co-chairman / CEO for the Living the Dream foundation, a non-profit organization that helps fulfill dreams for children and young adults with terminal and life-threatening illnesses.
Fuentes has served as an ambassador for the foundation since 2016, and he tells Billboard, “They were always at the Vans Warped Tour and other big rock festivals making dreams come true for fans. We love it because it’s so real and tangible. We get to actually meet the people and their families, and talk to them and hear their stories.” Pierce the Veil have also participated in a "Dream Day" for a Living the Dream kid.
Taking an active interest in the organization over the last three years, the singer says he's ready to step up to the challenge: “I’ve never run a nonprofit before, but I’ve learned a lot by working with Living the Dream over the years. When the foundation wanted to move forward together, I saw it as a crossroad in my life, and I chose making it a bigger part of my life. I didn’t see it coming, but my heart is fully in it.”
Fuentes revealed that the position opened up after a conversation with co-chairman Scottie Summers, who revealed that the foundation had just lost a big sponsor. “I commented on the post saying that I was willing to help out in any way I could, and the conversation started from there,” says the singer.
Fuentes says he hopes to help in rebranding in order to gain a better name recognition, while also wanting to help revamping their website and social media presence. “I have somewhat of a design background, so I’m working on the website as we speak. And I’m dragging every friend I have into this. We’re all pitching in with whatever strengths we have and whatever outlet and resources we have -- like my girlfriend, Danielle, is a pro at running social media, so she’s taking that on,” says Fuentes.
He continues, “In the end, our goal is so simple: making Dream Days happen. We help people with terminal illnesses have the best day of their life. It gives them a chance to take their mind off of everything and feel energized -- anyone that’s struggling with a terminal illness deserves to have a little break. A lot of other charities are kind of blurry or fuzzy as to what their goals are, and you don’t really know where your money is going because you don’t physically see what’s happening or know exactly what they’re doing to help. But what we do is simple and not at all confusing.”
Meanwhile, fans can still expect Pierce the Veil to continue with Fuentes and the musician says he's looking forward to the balance of the two sides of his life. Stay tuned as the group closes in on their first album since 2016's Misadventures.
