Prophets of Rage just released their debut disc a year ago, and they're already looking to the follow-up; they've just released a new song called "Heart Afire." Check out the new rocker via Spotify in the player below.

The one constant throughout is a steady Brad Wilk drum beat, with a spiraling Tom Morello guitar part joining it at the beginning of the song and instrumentation being added and subtracted throughout. Meanwhile, B-Real takes the lead vocally, with Chuck D. jumping in for emphasis, especially on the chorus, "I feel my heart afire / And I Wanna take you higher."

The song comes just as Prophets of Rage's Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk revealed earlier this week that they had just polished off their work on a new 13-track album. While release details are still pending, Commerford told Kaaos TV, "It's a different direction, it's not the same, and I love that. I grew up, and Brad grew up, listening to bands that made records and you were waiting at the record store to hear what it might sound like — the new record by some band. And so that's the way I feel like we're doing it right now. We're growing and we're creating and we're going in a new territory and I feel really good about it."

"Heart Afire" was initially expected to arrive this weekend but has now turned up on streaming platforms today (July 6). The song drops just as the band is about to start up a major summer tour with Avenged Sevenfold. Dates can be found here.
