Ricky Gervais Creating New Series, ‘Afterlife,’ About Atheist Who Goes to Heaven
Some would say Ricky Gervais won’t go to heaven when he dies, so he figures he’ll go there beforehand.
The sharp-tongued funnyman, best known for creating ‘The Office” and his biting sense of humor, is developing a new series called ‘Afterlife,’ about an atheist who goes to heaven after he dies.
Gervais is currently working on the script with Clyde Phillips, a former producer for Showtime’s ‘Dexter.’ While they plan to start shooting early next year, it’s unclear if any network has shown interest in the project.
On his website, Gervais wrote, “Dexter has consistently been my favourite show of the last 5 years. When I first saw Clyde’s name all over it I knew I had to work with him one day. I found out he was also a fan of my work and we became friends on email and through short conversations on various red carpets. We finally started working on an idea this year and we really hit it off. I am so exited about this project.”
