Rob Scallon Drops Banjo Cover of Slipknot’s ‘Psychosocial’ Featuring Cameo by Corey Taylor
All around musical virtuoso and huge metalhead Rob Scallon has unveiled his latest work, delivering a banjo cover of Slipknot's crushing, anthemic single "Psychosocial." You heard that correctly: a banjo, bluegrass-infused cover of the ripper.
For the video, Scallon plays outside of a barn, ripping a variety of different instruments, including the aforementioned banjo, as well as an upright bass and some light drumming. The song features Leo Moracchioli on vocals, making us all wonder why Slipknot haven't incorporated cowboy hats into their onstage ensembles. For the solo, Scallon riffs the. banjo hard, doing the song justice in all its new Americana glory.
If the song itself wasn't enough, at the very end of the video a cameo occurs from none other than Corey Taylor himself, to let Scallon know exactly what he thinks about guitars with more than six strings. If that wasn't enough, Scallon also put together a bunch of bloopers from the session, making the video even more hilarious than on its own.
We've been fans of Scallon for a while now, and his varied approach to creating music videos. In the past, he's riffed through the discographies of bands in extremely short time, including Rage Against the Machine, System of a Down, and more. He also has a knack for using some out there instruments, including cello covers of "B.Y.O.B." and "For Whom the Bell Tolls" with a plethora of sounds and the utilization of a shovel guitar. It's a good time.
