Watch: Shaquille O’Neal Spotted in Mosh Pit at Music Festival
Shaquille O'Neal showed up in the audience during a performance at Tomorrowland music festival in Belgium this past weekend, which reportedly surprised fans, CNN said of the 7-foot-1-inch concertgoer's place in the front row.
But it couldn't have been too surprising since the sports analyst, actor and retired NBA player was performing at the EDM event Friday (July 19) under his DJ name, Shaq Diesel. Watch the videos down toward the bottom of this post.
It may be a surprise to some, but Shaq's actually been performing music for quite some time. Last year, the star told Page Six his DJ sets give him the same inner thrill as a critical basketball game. (That outlet presented separate footage of Shaq in a mosh pit clearly having a ball with his fellow live music lovers.)
"Deejaying brings me back to my playing days," he said. "When I am up onstage in front of 100,000 people at a festival, it's Game 7. The energy is just wild and I get competitive. I need to throw down the best set possible."
O'Neal first came to music's attention with a hip-hop career in the '90s, when his association with rap act Fu-Schnickens gave way to his 1993 debut, Shaq Diesel. He released three more albums by 1998.
O'Neal's final Tomorrowland 2019 set hits the aptly named Shaq's Fun Stage this Friday, July 26, during the fest's Weekend 2 in Boom, Belgium. Get ticketing info here.
