Smashing Pumpkins Announce ‘Shiny and Oh So Bright’ Tour
After weeks of speculation and rumors, the Smashing Pumpkins have finally announced their "Shiny and So Bright" tour, featuring the return of former member James Iha, joining Jimmy Chamberlin, Billy Corgan and Jeff Schroeder.
The announcement for the tour was revealed alongside a video, featuring the two girls on the cover of their 1993 album Siamese Dream all grown up and in the same outfits. The women approached the classic "SP" heart logo with a flamethrower, lighting it up as "Today" played in the background and the dates came up onstage. The description of the video says that they will be "celebrating songs from their first five albums: Gish, Siamese Dream, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, Adore, and Machina/The Machines of God."
Excluded from this reunion is original bassist D'arcy Wretzky. Recently, she has been speaking out in interviews about Billy Corgan's actions leading up to the reunion announcement. In an explosive chat, she's mentioned Corgan has "always been insufferable" and that she was systematically left out of the return.
Tickets go on sale Friday, Feb. 23 on Livenation. See where the Pumpkins will be gigging below.
