FMX had a surprise 'hit' a while back.  We took the recommendation of The Painman and started spinning a tune called "Sail" by AWOLNATION.  It may not seem like much to you, but ROCK stations are always a little shy when it comes to "Alternative" tunes.  We tend to stick with the straight up hard rock from today and yesterday, but this song paid off.  More after the jump. We were excited about the new Linkin Park showing up.  We even heard Chester Bennington say that the new stuff would have "bigger guitars" than that last piece of fluff they put out.  Well today we got the single and it's another wimpy synth sing-a-long.  It's not horrible, but it's pretty disappointing.  We're hoping they rock at least a little on the album when it gets here.  Anyways,

A couple of days ago, we told you rumor had it that the 2012 Lollapalooza lineup would feature Red Hot Chili Peppers and Black Sabbath — and now we can confirm that the rumors were right on the money. This year’s list of acts has been unveiled, and it’s a doozy.

Never a band to settle for traditionalism, Cake‘s video for ‘The Winter’ was shot entirely by their fans. On March 20, the band released the video, which features the band’s audience lip-syncing the song.

Outspoken Smashing Pumpkins outspoken frontman Billy Corgan went on a rant about how music culture and ethos have been negatively affected by shows like ‘American Idol‘ and ‘X Factor‘ at a SXSW panel on March 13. Despite his distaste for such programs, the frontman said that he would certainly take a gig as a judge on one of those very shows if offered.

Falling in Reverse have just announced that they’ll be opening for Guns N’ Roses tonight (March 9) at the Hollywood Palladium, and FIR vocalist Ronnie Radke admits he is both excited and nervous about the sold out show.

Janus aren’t the kind of rock band that’s satisfied with writing songs about getting wasted and partying hard every night. Just look at the concept behind their last album, ‘Red Right Return.’ The set took inspiration from the 1920s Russian Constructionist art, while the title refers to the famed nautical term that captains use when returning to home port safely.

Cold’s ‘American Dream’ video tells the story of just that: the sometimes unrealistic ideals and idyllic goals that so many average Americans strive for, yet never attain. Perhaps it’s the thrill of the chase, but Americans never give up on the dream. Also in this clip is the pervasive idea that nothing is ever quite like it seems, either.

Fair to Midland is on the verge.  This is a band that is so unique and cool they're just one break away from being one of the biggest things in the world. Out of Sulphur Springs Texas, via Dallas, the band will headline this Friday at Jakes. Also on the bill are Trebuchet, Ursa, The Buster Duanes and The Red Dress. More after the jump.
