On Jan. 17, 2001, bassist Jason Newsted revealed the news that he was exiting Metallica.

Of course, we're all pretty familiar with what was happening back in 2000 with Metallica and mp3 file sharing program Napster. There's a new documentary all about Napster coming out soon and Metallica's own Lars Ulrich will be featured.
