Rolling blackouts are possible in Lubbock, and across the South Plains and Texas Panhandle on Tuesday, due to the Southwest Power Pool having to downgrade to EEA Level 3
At around 6 p.m. on Monday, February 15th, Southwest Power Pool, the transmission grid supplying Lubbock Power & Light's electric grid, returned to Energy Emergency Level 2.
Lubbock Power & Light, South Plains Electric Co-op, and Lyntegar Electric Cooperative all operate in the Southwest Power Pool. They will have to implement rolling blackouts some point Monday afternoon due to record electrical demand.
Lyntegar Electric Co-op, South Plains Electric Co-op, and AEP Texas have had to implement rolling blackouts at ERCOT's directive. Both ERCOT and SPP are urging people to conserve electricity over the next two days
