Tampa Bay Buccaneers Fire Coach Raheem Morris… Oh, and the Rest of the Coaching Staff
What better way to start off the new year than with a ton of firings? Raheem Morris and reportedly all the assistant coaches and coordinators of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were asking themselves this question when they lost their jobs Monday.
After finishing the season with 10 consecutive losses, the Buccaneers acted very quickly in firing Morris, the head coach. It was the franchise’s longest single-season losing streak since 1977.
“I can’t do nothing but be gracious to everybody involved,” Morris said. “I almost pulled it off. I almost did it. I almost got us winning again. At the end, though, I had nothing to stand on. The last 10 games – you can’t do that.”
After finishing 2010 with a 10-6 record, the Bucs dropped to 4-12 this year. The young coach may not be out of football long, though, as there are several vacancies available to fill.
