Texas Tech and Texas A&M Set Football Matchup…in Video Game Form
No. It's not real life, but with Texas A&M running scared from every opportunity to play both Texas and Texas Tech in football, this video game Cotton Bowl is going to have to be good enough.
If you haven't been following along with the Coach Duggs saga, it all comes to a close Tuesday night, May 19th at 8 p.m. with the matchup vs the Aggies.
Duggs completed quite the turnaround in Lubbock, taking over a 2-10 team and leading them to a 9-3 record, the first coach to win 9 regular-season games at Texas Tech since Mike Leach.
The season got off to a sluggish start, losing to UCLA before picking up two big non-conference wins including SEC power Mississippi State. In Big 12 play, Duggs and the Red Raiders dropped heartbreakers to TCU and Baylor, but beat Oklahoma and Texas to cap off the season.
Virtual Texas Tech is led by QB Gunnar Wesson and RB Ricky Squeaks. Texas A&M, on the other hand, is led by their Heisman finalist QB.
The Cotton Bowl will likely be Coach Duggs' final game as a Red Raider, as he's not been at a school for more than a year yet in his entire career. That thought was corroborated by real-life journalist Brett McMurphy, who claims that the SEC and Big 10 are in a bidding war for the services of the young head coach.
There's only one thing we can hope for when the Red Raiders lineup against the Aggies for the Cotton Bowl: Burgers.
