The Darkness Filter Through ‘Southern Trains’ Video, Announce 2018 ‘Tour de Prance’ North American Dates
You've never seen The Darkness quite like this ... but if you have some camera filters, maybe you have. The band has just unleashed their new video for "Southern Trains," one of the featured songs on the band's upcoming Pinewood Smile album.
The clip finds the band members experimenting with different Snapchat camera filters giving you a look at them playing the song with stretched faces or special additions added to their looks. It's both fun and somewhat disturbing at the same time. Meanwhile, the song itself takes a humorous jab at the service surrounding the train industry.
Singer Justin Hawkins says of "Southern Trains," “This song has genuine realness in it, innit. Dan and I had to endure the Southern Trains 'services' during the making of this album. The only difference between a normal day on Southern Trains and a day when they're all on strike, is that on strike day the ArseClownery is deliberate. They are utterly incapable of running a reliable service. Fact. The rest of the world is laughing at us. I hope this song goes some way towards facilitating change...”
Meanwhile, The Darkness will make their way to the U.S. in 2018. While the remainder of their 2017 will be spent on the road in Europe, the band just announced their first major stateside trek in support of the Pinewood Smile album, cleverly titled the "Tour de Prance."
The tour starts March 29 at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles and runs through a May 2 finale in Dallas. See all of the stops listed below and look for tickets going on sale this Friday (Sept. 29) at 10AM local time.
The Pinewood Smile album arrives Oct. 6 and you can currently pre-order the disc here. Meanwhile, stay up to date with all of the band's European and North American tour and ticketing info at this location.
