Let's face it: going through a breakup isn't fun at all, especially when they move out and you are left with what you had in the beginning (read: not much). So what do you do when you are in need of a couch, bed frame, coffee table and dining room table?

Here's a list of the easiest places to look if you are in the situation I am in when it comes to finding furniture that's cheap.

Check out my list of places around town that might be able to help you out if you are like me and in the same situation.

    Small retail Stores

The bigger retail stores require a credit check and usually are on the higher end of the price range, which means I can't afford them.

The smaller retail stores are more local, you can tell your story to them and they might feel a little compassion and try to help you out more so than the bigger stores.

    Rent To Own Stores

These are all over Lubbock and will work because they don't have a credit check. Some will even deliver if you don't have access to a pickup truck. But I don't like paying week to week because that doesn't work with my budget.

    Charity stores

These stores are awesome. I like to go in and look for deals on clothes and whatnot. The furniture they have may not really be your style, but you can't be too picky if you'e in a bind.

    Craigslist

Craigslist is pretty handy, especially with Texas Tech University right here. You can haggle with the prices and can pick stuff up right then and there after you've made the deal, but you have to be pretty quick to catch the good furniture.

    Your Bros

This is what I rely on 100 percent: my bros. Ask your buddies to help you out, tell them what you need and they usually can come through with some gnarly stuff. It doesn't hurt that they know they'll have a place to come chill and hang out.
