As the creator and director, of Threads Locks & Rock, I certainly hear my share of new music. After all, I have to research new bands and songs, yearly, for the soundtrack, as well as the pre- and post-concert events.

This year, I have stumbled upon an up-and-coming band, in Los Angeles; Blackpool Republic. I have to admit, I was first drawn to their guitarist, Greg Gatti. He was, interestingly enough, a co-star of HGTV's design show, The Antonio Treatment. He's easy on the eyes, ladies. As I came to know more about Greg Gatti, I realized he was also a very talented musician, with a band, which is seemingly bringing back the true sound of Rock-n-Roll!! I checked these guys out, on YouTube, and listened to their single, Light It Up, and I was hooked. The song really brought a collective of the Rolling Stones, The Cult and a touch of KISS, together to create a very classic sound. "Blackpool Republic is a Los Angeles rock band with the chops and songwriting skills to turn the rock world upside down. With influences ranging from AC/DC, The Cult, The Rolling Stones, Faces, Motorhead, Judas Priest, Guns n Roses, Buckcherry, and The Black Crowes, this is Rock n Roll with classic rock & metal undertones. Singer Chris Page rips and growls his way thru the songs like a man on fire as he tells dark stories about life in Los Angeles. Guitarist Greg Gatti sounds like the second coming of Malcolm Young (ac/dc) as he tears into his semi-hollow body guitar plugged straight into a Marshall stack. The band's bravado sound comes from the foundation of the bass and drums and a belief that rock music should have muscle and power behind it to push the groove along. New York Guitarist/Songwriter/Producer Gatti started the band with Page and Ace Von Johnson in 2009. On bass for the debut album is Nigel Mogg formerly of the Quireboys (London Quireboys.) On lead guitar is Ace Von Johnson who also play's for 80's LA Rock legend's Faster Pussycat. Drums on the album were performed by Chris Warner, currently in the LA Based "Butcher Babies." But he has since left the band, and the band would like to introduce and welcome LA drummer Zak St. John to the touring and live lineup. The debut album "cut the one you love" was recorded/mixed by Greg Gatti at his Los Angeles studio. The band is currently rehearsing for live shows in support of the debut album. Blackpool Republic will also be featured on a compilation CD of the best new rock bands in the world for UK based "Classic Rock Magazine" in the July 2013 issue of the rag. Keep an eye out for these guys in Southern California club scene in the near future, and in the UK and Europe by 2014. "Blackpool Republic is putting kick back into kickass Rock n Roll" a quote from Del James of Guns n Roses in 2011. A full download of the album is available here.
