Greta Van Fleet have checked off a number of major boxes in their still relatively short career, with the Frankenmuth rockers now adding an appearance on Saturday Night Live to the list. The band's entry into the pop culture lexicon also allowed for them to become the subject of a Weekend Update joke, which can also be seen below.

The band took things back to their start, pulling out the title track from their initial Black Smoke Rising EP for the late night audience. The track is up for Best Rock Song at the Grammys in a few weeks, so giving the song a little more exposure could add to its momentum.

Host Rachel Brosnahan of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel introduced the band, who appeared as usual with a more rootsy look. They played a spirited version of the song, ending with smiles from the Kiszka brothers as they were greeted with applause.

Shortly after the performance, it was time for Weekend Update, with co-anchor Colin Jost having a little fun at the expense of the night's music guests. "Sunday night will bring a Super Blood Wolf Moon, which is a rare lunar eclipse and not as I assumed, the name of the band who just performed on our show," stated Jost.

Having gotten the Grammy-nominated track out of the way, Greta Van Fleet returned later in the proceedings to play something from their most recent album, Anthem of the Peaceful Army. The more melodic, heartfelt single "You're the One" was chosen, with the band relying more on keyboards and acoustic guitar for the performance. Watch below.

The 61st Annual Grammy Awards will take place Feb. 10 and Greta Van Fleet have received four nominations, including one for Best New Artist. While new music is very much on the table for Greta Van Fleet in 2019, the band will also spend a fair amount of time on the road as well.
