Radio's job is to appeal to the most people it can. That's pretty simple and the goal of almost any business. The "wildcard" in the radio formula is that people are PASSIONATE about music.

There are only so many hours in a day and so many songs you can devote time to. We rotate new songs at a rate that allows the most people to hear them once or twice a day. This is where things get weird. Depending on what you're doing that day you may never hear your favorite song, or you may accidentally hear it over and over and think we're pounding it to the ground. A certain song may irritate you and stick out like a sore thumb and on and on. All we can do is keep tweaking the formula based on feedback and research. I have heard from tons of people that the new Korn is the best thing they've done in a decade, and just now I saw a thread of people who think it's the worst thing they've done in a decade. Wow, that's how it works. Then there are bands and even whole genres that you may love that haven't hit mass appeal status. I love Social Distortion and Monster Magnet, but that doesn't mean they are "right for radio."

We all have to have some things we love that aren't on the radio all the time. This is where it absolutely KILLS me that some folks "switch" to satellite radio for variety. Satellite radio has it's place in the world, but VARIETY is not it's business. Satellite gives you a variety of channels, but the individual channels are formatted much more tightly than we have ever dreamed of.  In fact, each channel rotates less than half the songs that FMX does.

So what's the point? The point is that we DO listen to your suggestions, your requests and your comments. Sometimes it seems like we don't react too fast, but we may be waiting for additional input. We can't let one person or even a small group dictate what everyone else gets to hear. We have to be there for the masses, it's the only way we can guarantee we can be there for you in the future.
