Dark Shadows Brings Halloween Early

Johnny Depp rocks it as Barnabus Collins in the movie version of “Dark Shadows”.  Despite being a little ‘overshadowed’ by “the Avengers”, Dark Shadows did alright at the box office ($276 million is considered ‘alright’ these days)  and is now ready for your home collection.  More after the jump.

“Dark Shadows” was a Gothic soap opera that from 1966 to 1971.  The show went from creepy to supernatural about six months in when vampire “Barnabus Collins” showed up.  Being a ‘live’ soap opera, the show featured a lot of campy moments when stage props messed up or actors forgot their lines.

The new “Dark Shadows” takes place in 1972 so they can have some 70′s fun. The movie hits stores today.  Check out the making of/trailer below.
