These days it is not uncommon to see graffiti on the side of trains, on overpasses, or buildings, in Denver there is a neighborhood who not only has grown to enjoy finding graffiti in one place but residents are bothered by the removal of it.It seems back in 2010 someone decided to be funny and paint eyelashes and a smile on a public mailbox that was slightly leaning against another, larger public mailbox and to paint the words "I <3 U"  and "I <3 U too" on the sides of the mailboxes.

Residents of  the neighborhood thought it was cute, one couple even blogged about it in their daily blog (BeatofTravel.com,) saying “It is not your typical romance, but it is simple yet messy, the way most romances tend to be. The star-crossed lovers are, well, they are a pair of U.S. postal mailboxes.”

The city on the other hand did not find it one bit amusing and sent workers out to cover up the faces of the smiling couple.

The residents of Denver that had become accustom to the smiling love boxes were sad about the plain blue and green boxes and secretly longed to have them back. Blah blah blah, love.

Yeah so anyway the graffiti artist shows up and repaints the mailboxes and always leaves a note of love from one mailbox to the other and the city always sends someone back out to paint over the faces. To this day the battle rages between the graffiti artist and the city without a sense of humor.

Here is the full story and a few pictures of the mailboxes check it out for yourself, would you be offended to see this around town or would you feel like the residents of Denver that think it is harmless and even a little bit cute.
