Check this out, 17 year old Erin DiMeglio of Florida is obviously a natural athlete, she is the starting point guard for her high school basketball team and the quarterback for the girls flag football team. To those of us in Texas, the thought of a girls flag football team is not something we are used to hearing about. So a girl playing football for her high school varsity football team is not even something we would consider.

But, at South Plantation High School, not only is it a thought, but a reality. Coach Doug Gatewood, who coaches both the boys and the girls flag team invited Erin to attend spring workouts with the boys, and eventually ended up putting Erin on the boys team as the third string varsity Quaterback.

And recently at their season opened, Erin got the chance to show what she can do. With 1:40 remaining in the game between South Plantation High and Nova High Coach Gatewood put Erin in the game. While Erin's duties in that game were limited to handing the ball off, the senior says she is looking forward to the day she gets to start throwing passes for touchdowns.

Go Girl...
