The Wild Chaos Of Lubbock’s Worst Intersection

Lord, have mercy on this intersection, y'all. I know we're all cussing at it together. It's impossible to be happy when you're driving toward the most horrendous intersection in all of Lubbock, Texas. It looks different every single day, the cones are confusing, and most of the time, multiple lanes are shut down, especially over the past year. It's just been terrible.

But, Chrissy, that sounds like a lot of places in Lubbock...

I know, but this one is exceptionally evil. I'm talking, one wrong move, and your car is toast, lost to a 2-foot drop-off where a road used to be. Every day at this intersection is a new hellish nightmare.

Dig deep, man. Think about it. I'll give you a hint: There's a Whataburger on one corner, AND this intersection also just happens to be arguably the best place in town to find a hooker and score a bag of blow...

If you guessed 19th and Ave Q, you're spot on.

Current Google Maps images just don't do it justice. These must have been before things got all jacked up and insane. Take a look at them, and tell me I'm wrong.

The best thing I've done for myself this year is to move far, far away from that part of town. I had to leave home 20 minutes early each day for work, and most of the time, I was still late. It's ever-changing, and it seems to just get worse and worse.

If you're new to town, steer clear of 19th and Avenue Q! You've been warned.
