A Lubbock woman is behind bars for multiple offenses after 2 kids were found alone inside a running vehicle. KAMC News reports the incident occurred Sunday, Feb. 28, outside a local Walmart.

Members of the Lubbock Police Department were called to the Walmart at 702 West Loop 289 on Sunday for a report of 2 kids crying inside a vehicle in the parking lot.

Both kids, under the age of 10, had been left alone in the car while it was still running and there did not appear to be anyone watching them. A search of the vehicle uncovered small amounts of methamphetamine and marijuana in the seats and on the floor of the vehicle.

Members of Child Protective Services were called to the scene to assess the children while police searched for who was responsible for leaving them alone. According to a police, a 29-year-old woman named Felicianna Morena has been arrested.

A police report states, “[Moreno intentionally abandoned [two children] inside of her vehicle under circumstances that exposed [the children] to an unreasonable risk of harm.”

Police have not clarified if and how Moreno is related to the 2 children, who have now been placed into temporary custody with Child Protective Services. But she is believed to be the children’s mother. A third child who was not at the scene has also been placed into the care of CPS.

Moreno is currently booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center on bonds over $100,000. She faces multiple charges, including drug possession, fabricating or tampering with evidence, and abandonment of a child.
